Mixing

Lars and the team shape your recordings into a coherent track: dynamics, space and clarity aligned with your references — with fixed revision rounds and clear delivery.

An engineer sits at a mixing desk in a treated control room, hand on a fader, facing studio monitors.

A mix decides whether listeners hear bass, vocals and detail without fighting the volume. At Gregorxyra we mix per song from tidy stems or a live capture from our live room, always on calibrated monitors in the roughly 20 m² control room.

You do not need to sit in the studio for every tweak: many projects run remotely with structured feedback. We still schedule a listen session when you travel to Amsterdam or when an album needs a shared direction. Scope and budget are covered in our mixing budget guide.

How it works

  1. 01

    Brief

Send labelled WAV stems, tempo, references and target date via contact. We confirm pricing — per track, hourly or EP — plus the 30% deposit.

  2. 02

    Import and QC

We check phase, sample rate, clipping and missing tracks before billable time starts. Issues are reported within 2 business days with a concrete fix plan.

  3. 03

    Mix and revisions

First mix follows the agreed timeline; then you get 2 revision rounds with written notes — not open-ended “until perfect”.

  4. 04

    Delivery

Final mix as WAV and optional MP3 reference; stem exports or instrumentals on request. We keep project archives for 24 months unless agreed otherwise.

When our mix fits your project

Best when you arrive from voice recording, band recording or your own DAW with usable tracks and want an external pair of ears. We mix pop, rock, hip-hop, electronic and acoustic material — provided stems are named sensibly and sample rates match.

Only a stereo rough with no tracks? Hourly mixing may suit better than per-track pricing; we will say honestly if re-recording is smarter. Mastering is a separate step via mastering; we print mixes with headroom for that stage.

What to deliver

Send all tracks as WAV, 24 bit, one sample rate per project. Export without bus limiting; no MP3 stems unless source material exists only that way — we note limitations in the quote. Add a text file with tempo, key, track list and references (links or filenames).

Comped or separate vocals? Both work; say which takes lead. MIDI for virtual instruments only when you include renders or an agreed project file. More file hygiene detail sits in the budget guide and guides hub.

Process and communication

After import we build a session with colour coding and bus layout documented per project. The first mix balances levels, EQ, dynamics, panning, sends and space; we avoid heavy limiting so mastering keeps room. Feedback works best bundled per revision round — bullet points with timecodes beat scattered messages.

Remote listening uses sent references; in-person sessions in Oud-West are welcome by appointment within Mon–Fri 10–22 · Sat 11–18. Saskia coordinates scheduling; Lars mixes or delegates within the team. Urgent questions: 020 261 4873 or [email protected].

Revisions and limits

Each track or hourly block includes 2 revision rounds after the first mix. One round bundles your notes; we implement them in one pass. A new creative direction (different reference, extra stems) counts as additional work and is quoted upfront.

We do not mix anonymous content with unclear rights. Stems with unlicensed samples or beats without clearance are declined; see disclaimer and terms and conditions.

Turnaround

Typical turnaround for one song is five to ten business days after complete delivery, depending on queue and complexity. EPs and albums get a project calendar; rush fees only when capacity allows — ask via contact.

If import fails due to client-side errors, the clock pauses until stems are valid. Intake replies within 2 business days.

Not included

Mastering, tuning beyond light touch-ups, arranging new instruments, heavy editing of poor recordings, forensic repair on damaged files, and multilingual versions without extra agreement sit outside standard mixing. Mastering can still be booked in one pipeline.

DAW training, plugin purchases or waiting time after three reminders about your feedback are handled separately. Privacy: privacy policy; site cookies: cookie policy.

On to master and release

After sign-off, export stems for mastering or book mastering with us. Distribution format choices are outlined in mastering file formats.

FAQ

How many stems can I send?

There is no hard cap, but more than thirty tracks per song needs extra time. Group drums, bass, keys, guitars and vocals logically; DAW busses are fine if individual tracks are available when we need to intervene.

Will you mix my home recording?

Yes, when the captures are usable. Sometimes we recommend voice recording or live recording first for better sources — we say that plainly at intake.

What counts as a revision round?

One bundled list of changes after listening to the mix we send. Sending wishes across several days after we already applied edits counts as multiple rounds.

Do I get the Pro Tools or Logic session?

Standard delivery is stereo mix and optional mix-bus stems. Full session export is available for an extra fee — request it in the quote.

How do I start?

Email [email protected] with track count, genre, deadline and a download link to stems. We reply within 2 business days with pricing and next steps.
